Amid the crackdown, authorities arrested Venerable Ugyen Jangchub, subjecting him to intense physical beatings before temporarily releasing him with orders to report to a detention center. Police also confiscated his personal belongings, including a portrait of the Dalai Lama. During the ongoing rites, officials forcibly removed tribute posters and strictly banned sharing information online. The intense harassment follows years of state persecution against the late Rinpoche for his educational and cultural advocacy.
