Dalai Lama vows continued service and affirms his institution’s future at 90th birthday event
His Holiness the Dalai Lama attended a special public gathering on Monday at the Main Tibetan Temple in Dharamshala to mark the occasion of his 90th birthday. According to the Tibetan calendar, it fell today, the fifth day of the fifth month of the year 2152 (Wood-Snake Year). The event was organised by members of the Dhomey community and included a short long life offering ceremony dedicated to the exile spiritual leader.
Addressing the gathering, the exiled spiritual leader reflected on his lifelong commitment to the service of humanity, noting that despite turning 90, he continues to feel physically healthy. He also spoke briefly on the future continuation of the institution, stating, “So, the institution of the Dalai Lama, so there will be some kind of a framework within which we can talk about the continuation of the institution of the Dalai Lamas.”
