(EP:282) – “New Delhi must up the ante in a battle of narratives and highlight Tibet’s distinct connections with India”- Mankikar Kalpit A. Mankikar, Fellow with the Strategic Studies Program at the Observer Research Foundation in New Delhi, and Jyotsna Mehra, Founder and Lead of Closed Door Policy Consulting, highlight the strategic importance and enduring relevance of Tibet in today’s rapidly evolving international relations. They recommend that the Indian government adopt a calibrated approach to counter Chinese propaganda by actively promoting Tibetan culture and institutions on the global stage, while avoiding overt political confrontation. At the same time, they emphasize that the Tibetan diaspora can play a vital role by strengthening efforts to preserve their rich artistic and cultural heritage, thereby presenting a credible counter-narrative to Chinese disinformation.
