Although he completed his seven-year sentence in September 2025, Chinese authorities allegedly extended his detention for several additional months before releasing him last week. Reports indicate that he is suffering from vision loss, kidney disease, and chronic high blood pressure, and is facing restrictions on travel and public communication. Anya Sengdra, who has been arrested three times in connection with his activism, had drawn international concern over his health and detention conditions.
