DHARAMSHALA, June 26: Marking the 40th birthday of prominent Buddhist leader His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje, the exile seat at Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim hosted a celebratory event on Thursday. The occasion was graced by several dignitaries, including the Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang-Golay, and Kyabje Zurmang Gharwang Rinpoche.
In a virtual address, the Karmapa reflected on the deep historical ties between the Karmapa lineage and the state of Sikkim. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Sikkim government and local authorities for their continued support of Buddhism and efforts to preserve the region’s monastic heritage.
