US Senator Marco Rubio marked Losar, the Tibetan New Year, by reaffirming America’s support for Tibetan rights and announcing the appointment of a senior official to oversee Tibetan issues. It has been warmly welcomed by the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) in Mcleodganj, today.
The CTA expressed gratitude to the US leadership and said it hoped the appointment would strengthen efforts to protect Tibetan religious, cultural and linguistic identity and promote dialogue on Tibet.
In a statement issued by Rubio to coincide with Losar and the beginning of the Year of the Fire Horse, he extended greetings to Tibetans across the world. “I extend my warmest wishes to all those celebrating Losar, the Tibetan New Year.
