Dharamshala: On 21 July, Sikyong Penpa Tsering held an hour-long interactive session with approximately 60 Tibetan students from abroad, during which he emphasised the profound responsibility of being Tibetan and the importance of remaining hopeful, noting that “hope is what we ultimately yearn for.”
During the session, Sikyong emphasised the vital importance of understanding Tibet’s historical status as an independent nation in order to advocate for the Tibetan cause on the international stage effectively. He encouraged the youth to study Tibetan history and political developments to strengthen their capacity for informed engagement and to support the Central Tibetan Administration’s Middle Way Approach as a peaceful resolution to the Sino-Tibetan conflict. “Knowing our history is key to defending our identity and struggle,” he remarked.
Sikyong also addressed a range of pressing topics, including the People’s Republic of China’s ongoing internal political and socio-economic challenges, its evolving role within the global geopolitical order, and the broader implications of its actions for the international community. He contextualised the Tibetan freedom movement within these developments, urging students to deepen their understanding of the complex dynamics at play.
