Tibet Policy Institute Launches Report on Forced Relocation of Nomads from Nagchu

The Tibet Policy Institute (TPI) launched a detailed study on 21 May exposing the mass relocation of Tibetan farmers and nomads from Nagchu to Sinburi in Lhoka under China’s “Extremely High-Altitude Ecological Relocation” scheme. The study, based on six months of research, argues this policy is a veiled attempt at population control and cultural assimilation. Tibetan lawmakers and former residents condemned the move for dismantling traditional livelihoods and eroding Tibetan identity. TPI called for global attention and urged translation of the report into English to raise wider awareness of this ongoing repression.
