Heavy rains continued to lash vast sections of Uttar Pradesh for the third day in a row, bringing the total number of flood-affected districts in the state to 24, prompting major concern in both rural and urban regions. Rivers Ganga, Yamuna, and Sharda are flowing above the danger mark in various areas, with some overflowing and causing inundation of nearby villages, farmland, and roadways.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy rainfall in several states for the next few days. In its latest weather bulletin issued at 6:18 am on August 7, the Met Office predicted heavy rainfall across southern, central and northeastern regions until August 12.
